About Delecia

Delecia is a born and bred South African, and has travelled extensively in many different parts of the world. She spends her life surrounded by domestic and wild animals – animals have always had a natural attraction to her through a unique mutual understanding. Over the past 26 years, Delecia has studied animal behaviour intensively in the field and in theory. Tracking, observing and assisting wild animals has always been a part of her life as well as educating others about different species and the human-animal bond.
Delecia also had the good fortune of working as Head Dolphin Trainer and Behaviour Analyst for 13 years in the Red Sea, Israel. It is also through the dolphins that she learned how to assess and read animal behaviour to its finest nuances. Training them based on friendship and their free will, taught her to be infinitely sensitive. She has trained many animal trainers and has been closely involved in the release of captive dolphins back into the wild. Delecia became more involved in the canine world in the past decade and it has proven to be no different for her – she has received distinctions in canine behaviour and is a certified professional dog trainer and behaviour analyst. She recognises that these animals that we share our homes with cater to our will every day, and training them through applying positive reinforcement and understanding the ‘laws of learning’ will give humans the communication skills needed to form well balanced relationships with their furry companions.
Her goal is to share her knowledge and help people build trust and respect with their animals in ways that are really quite fascinatingly simple, through fun and instructive private lessons. Delecia also gives public presentations, as well as workshops and seminars for trainers – all based on positively rewarding methods for all.
